CA1-SN2 Opportunity Knocks
D+5 | 25 July 1989, 16:00hrs - 22:00hrs vs @ Rottenburg
The battle this morning was fierce. The Soviets threw the 242nd Motor Rifle Regiment (MRR)into the fray trying to find a way through the Canadian defence. However, the 2nd Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) Battalion (Bn) was able to stop them.
Around 0900, the Soviets gave up and pulled back from the A81 towards Tubingen and Rottenburg. There is no indication that they have been reinforced. The 242nd MRR is in rough shape.
Reconnaissance and intelligence reports show that the Soviets have started blowing bridges along the Neckar River. However, the Brigade staff see an opportunity to seize some bridges Southwest of Tubingen, near Rottenburg. Does 2 PPCLI have enough left in the tank to grab them?
